ABOUT ME

On this page I would like to introduce myself in a few (more or less) words, shed light on my professional career and give an insight into my sideline activities as a musician and writer.

Born in May 1983 and raised in a tiny village in the northern upper palatinate (living in Nuremberg for a few years now), I have always been particularly interested in technology (computer software and programming languages), art (rock music and drumming, Hollywood film culture and literature) and culture (politics and zeitgeist).

After receiving my secondary school leaving certificate, however, I initially decided on a completely different career path. I completed an apprenticeship at the employment agency in Bayreuth as a specialist for employment promotion. But immediately after completing the training, the desire for an academic education grew, but without a specific focus. I caught up on my vocational diploma and noticed an inner conflict. On the one hand I wanted to fulfill my technical affinity by studying computer science, on the other hand I was a passionate drummer and didn't want to pursue this profession just as a hobby.

Therefore, I initially refrained from studying at university and focused on expanding my musical skills by playing in various music groups, giving lessons and completing the Professional programs at the Future Music School in Aschaffenburg- all part-time, I continued to work full/part-time at the employment agency. After completing the Professional Program - at that time the only one in my year - I literally had to check off an item on my bucket list and from then on I could and wanted to focus on an academic education in the field of computer science.

I enthusiastically completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from 2011 to 2015 at the University of Applied Science Wuerzburg-Schweinfurt. There I learned the most important basics of computer science and in particular advanced programming with the programming language Java. At that time, I decided to specialize in the field of IT security in order to focus on the fundamentals of encryption and IT security-related issues. In my bachelor thesis I expanded my advanced knowledge of Java through a model-driven implementation of a framework with which an automatic code generation of important interfaces for the development of Android apps could be accomplished using a DSL (Domain Specific Language) developed by me.

Towards the end of my bachelor's degree, I received a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes e. V. because of my above-average performance. After completing my bachelor's degree within the standard period of study, I decided to do a master's degree in computer science at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). In particular, the expansion of my programming skills and learning other programming languages were the motives for this. I graduated from the major "Computer science in vehicle technology" and thus gained in-depth programming knowledge in the C++ programming language. I learned that as part of this focus OMNet++-Simulation Framework "veins", which enables a simulation of realistic traffic scenarios  in connection with vehicle communication via WLAN 802.11p. My master thesis dealt with the extension of this framework and the comparison of congestion control between the US (WAVE) and the European (ETSI ITS-G5) radio standard.

After my master's thesis, I was still very interested in the topic of vehicle networking (V2X), which is why I decided to do a doctorate in this technical context. In mid-2017 I started my research work at the Chair of Computer Science 7 of the technical faculty at FAU and expanded the Veins framework to include various mobile communication mechanisms (LTE, 5G) for simulating realistic traffic scenarios with mobile communication technologies. The focus here was on Quality of Service (QoS) and communication between vehicles and base stations / networks (V2I/N). At the end of 2022 I was able to complete my doctorate (with distinction) with my dissertation "Simulation and modeling of 5G V2I / V2N use cases taking into account the 5G QoS model". Since October 2022 I have been working as a senior software engineer at Elektrobit in Erlangen in the AUTOSAR context. My focus here is on code generation and validation with Java.

At the beginning of 2016 I decided - after almost 20 years of playing drums in about 15 music groups - to (temporarily) leave the music stage. One reason for this - besides the focus on my academic education - was another great passion: creating stories with a technical background and writing books. Here I focus on current technical or scientific trends and mentally spin the thread a few years further and generate possible future scenarios.

Finally, I would like to say that I have only a sparse presence on the major social networks (e.g. YouTube - see music). There are a number of reasons for this: disregard for data protection, data leaks, the spread of fake news, confusing privacy settings and the data collection of these networks.
